Adjustable Dress Form - Review

I like writing reviews and articles, it's just that sometimes I run out of ideas. Come on, I can't write long, detailed and emotional reviews of plastic spoons, for example... Well, I can, but you get the idea.

I have a friend who likes to sew from time to time. It's really nothing more than a hobby, but she decided to expand her capabilities a little bit. A dress form would make a perfect addition to all of the tools she already had. Purchasing one may sound simple, but unfortunately, it's not. Think about all of the manufacturers, craftsmanship, details, materials, and of course, the price.

I thought that I might help her out, so we both sat in front of the computer and spent like 3 hours, sweeping through hundreds of sites and reviews. Finally, after such an extensive research, we decided to order the Singer DF151_G Adjustable Dress Form.

All of the specifications looked okay, the price was reasonable, customer reviews generally positive. One more positive side of this dress form is that it's adjustable. Exactly what we were looking for.

The adjustable dress form turned out to be excellent for her little hobby. I'm sure it would be good for a professional as well. I thought to myself: Why not write a review of it?

First, let's talk about the key features of the product:

It's fully adjustable, this allows you to make better fittings and alterations, plus you can experiment with various fabrics and see how they hang on the body. Twelve dials make it easy to change the dimensions of the body, even at the neck. The height is also adjustable, so don't worry. This model has a hem gauge included, to mark the hemline for skirts and dresses. Next - the fabric that it's made of. Good, solid stuff and you can pin items on the form.

Now in a nutshell:

  • Fully adjustable dress form for use in sewing projects
  • 12 dials make it easy to change the dimensions of the body
  • Adjustable height; hem gauge included to mark hemlines
  • Fabric cover allows for pins to be used onto the form

What you probably want to know now, or you don't know that you want to know, errr either way... here are the exact size ranges of this dress form:

  • 39 to 45 inches at the bust
  • 30 to 36,5 inches at the waist
  • 40 to 46 inches at the hip
  • 13,5 to 18 inches at the neck

Note that this is the model we bought, there's also a different one. Technically they are the same, it's just that the other one is smaller. I've prepared a table that compares the size ranges (Click here).

This is how the adjustable dress form looks like.

That's all when it comes to raw description of the product.

What about... emotions?

Personally, I don't have much experience with sewing, but my friend loves this dress form. It's everything she could ask for - solid craftsmanship, good features and good price.

What are the opinions of other customers?

Let's see some of the reviews that we found on the internet:

  • "Good product, well priced I bought this dress form for my 13 year old daughter - she loves it. It is priced well for the value as compared to other forms"
  • "The dress form is very adjustable and really makes sewing for yourself much easier."
  • "My fiance bought this dress form for her personal use. She says that is a very versatile dress form since you can adjust almost everything on it."
  • "I bought this form to help in making my wedding dress. The form itself is great. The fabric covering the form really helps make the fabric you're using cling."

Okay, where can you get the Singer DF151_G Adjustable Dress Form?

The best price we found was on Amazon. Other sites always had it quite a few bucks higher. So it is the best option, not to mention that free shipping is available!
